LAKE IMPROVEMENT BOARD MEETING
May 12, 2022

A meeting of the Rainbow and Middle Lakes, Lake Improvement Board was held
at the Montcalm County Drain Commission, 211 W. Main Street, Stanton, Michigan on
the 12th day of May 2022 at 4:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Jerry at 4:00 p.m.
PRESENT: Jerry Cook, Chairperson
Todd Sattler, Secretary, Montcalm County Drain Commissioner
Sara Staulbaum-Beechy, Douglass Township Representative
Daniel Campos, Abutting Property Owner’s Representative
ABSENT: Pat Carr, Board of Commissioner’s Representative

PRESENT: Rick Buteyn, Progressive AE
Anne Gaylord, Drain Commission
A motion was made by Todd and seconded by Daniel to approve the agenda.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by Todd and seconded by Daniel to approve the minutes
from September 13, 2021, as presented. Motion carried.
Public Comment
The board advised that they had created an information flyer for the residents regarding
the function of the lake board. Daniel asked about water quality testing and Rick advised
that it would be up to the residents to pay for any water quality testing.
Weed Control Program
Rick advised that there is a lot of shoreline algae and recommends an early algae
treatment. There is milfoil in the channel and the pocket of the lake and there is also a bit
of curly leaf pond weed. Jerry asked if it would be possible to treat a boating lane through
the lily pads to allow residents to reach the middle to the center of the lake. Rick said that
was a possibility.
Financial Update
Todd presented the financial report to the board. He stated that the board is assessing a
fair amount to cover the yearly program and only leaving a small contingency balance
each year.
Meeting Schedule
The board discussed the meeting schedule and decided that the next meeting should be
held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 3:00 PM.
There being no further business to come before the Lake Board, a motion was made by
Todd and seconded by Daniel to adjourn the meeting at 4:30 p.m. Motion carried.
