REGULAR MEETING
November 2, 2023
The Floyd County 911 Service Board in person at EOC at the new Law ENFORCEMENT CENTER
Chairman Starr called the meeting to order at 6:12 p.m.
ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS PRESENT:
Keith Starr, Charles City; Dennis Keifer Floyd County Supervisor, Jason Webster Floyd County EMA, Lynn
Nagel Mayor, Brian Chambers Marble Rock Fire Chief, Marty Parcher Charles City Fire, Scott Johnson (on
the phone) Mayor of Rockford
Also, Present John Gohr, Dispatch Supervisor, Floyd County Communications; Jen Solomon, 911
Administrator; Gloria Carr Floyd County Auditor, Hugh Anderson Charles City Police Chief, Bob Steenson
Charles City Press
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
Chairman Starr presented the agenda for approval. On motion by Anderson and second by Nagel, Motion
carried unanimously.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Chairman Starr presented the minutes of the August 3, 2023 meeting for approval. Brian Chambers spoke
and said before we approve the minutes the wrong date was on the minutes should say August 3,2023 not
June 1,2023, also name changes Bartz was spelled wrong and Starr was spelled wrong also and Gloria
Carr did say the Financial Report should have read June 30,2023 instead of August 1,2023 Jen Solomon
did correct these errors and said that will carefully look over minutes in the future On motion by Chambers
and second by Nagle, Motion carried unanimously
Consider Approval of Financial Report:
Auditor Carr presented the financial report for the current month of October 30, 2023. On motion Johnson,
Second by Chambers Motion carried unanimously
NEW BUISNESS:
Discussion on 2025 Budget Auditor Carr asked about what big projects that 911should budget for John
Gohr did say that 911 in past has paid for workstations and said that they need 2 more and that is about
$900.00, did state also that they interface machine 2 of those about $1000.00 and 2 new computers about
$2,100.00. Salary was discussed for Jen Solomon and Jeff Sherman and Gloria said that she would look
into that and Supervisor Keifer said that he would like to know also.
Update on radio and the progress John Gohr spoke about Recording Machine and said that when the
kickoff meeting was held Motorola did say that we would need some recorder and that wasn’t in our contract
and John did say that Motorola said that we can VPN thru another county John did check with some other
counties and they were full and the price for the recorders for the phones and system is going to be about
$139,618.00, Chairman Starr asked why wasn’t in bid and asked Supervisor Keifer to be in charge of that
and get some answers.
Jen Solomon did update on Report of Address in the County (GIS), did go the report, and said that there are
a few address that need to be update and nothing else to report and did say that she will be working in the
month of December on the yearly 911 report.
John Gohr did discuss Central Square and Shared Services Software and shared service software is more
user friendly had received anything from Central Square now and will let everyone know, also discussed to
pay the Zertron bill if anyone has any discussion on this.
