The Mayor and Council met in a regular meeting on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at the city hall with the following members present: Webb Nall, Jerome Webster, Eunice Johnson, Shawn Lassiter, and Chris Harrison. A quorum being present Mayor Staff called the meeting to order. Councilmember Johnson opened with prayer followed by the pledge of allegiance. Minutes of the February 28, 2022 regular meeting – A motion was made by Chris Harrison and seconded by Shawn Lassiter to approve the minutes of the February 28, 2022 as written. Vote: all ayes. The motion was approved. Accounts Payable – A motion was made by Eunice Johnson and seconded by Jerome Webster to approve the accounts payable. Vote: all ayes. The motion was approved. Ordinance 02-2022 – Sunday Alcohol Sales – This ordinance modifies Ordinance 2018-03 to continue to allow on-premises sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages on Sunday after the hour of 10:00 a.m. but to allow sale of wine and beer for off-premises consumption on Sunday, after the hour of 5:00 a.m. A motion was made by Webb Nall and seconded by Chris Harrison to suspend the rules and regulations for immediate consideration of Ordinance 02-2022. A motion was made by Jerome Webster and seconded by Webb Nall to adopt Ordinance 02-2022 as presented. Atmore VFW Auxiliary – Vietnam Veterans Week – Mayor Staff presented the Atmore VFW Auxiliary with a proclamation designating the week of March 27 – April 2 as Vietnam Veterans week. Minister Brandon Tanner – Request use of Houston Avery Park – Mr. Tanner has requested permission to use Houston Avery Park on April 23rd from 11:00 – 3:00 for an event sponsored by local churches for the youth in our surrounding areas. A motion was made by Shawn Lassiter and seconded by Webb Nall to approve the request. Vote: all ayes. The motion was approved.
