Appearance Commission REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

Hope Mills Parks and Recreation
Tina Yossett called the regular meeting of the Hope Mills Appearance Commission to order
on January 27 at 6:28 p.m.

PRAYER
1. APPROVAL OF SEPTEMBER MINUTES – ADDITIONS OR DELETIONS.
Motion made by Marie Callender, seconded by Evelyn Barnes and carried unanimously,
to approve the agenda as presented.
2. APPROVAL OF JANUARY AGENDA – ADDITIONS OR DELETIONS.
Motion made by Marie Callender, seconded by Evelyn Barnes and carried unanimously,
to approve the agenda as presented.
3. OLD BUSINESS
a. Gateway Signs – 9 bags of mulch needed for gateway signs for approximately
$45-$50.
Motion to have Corey order 9 bags of Brown Mulch for the Gateway Signs
maintained by Liberty Christian.
b. Patriotic decorations – 10 flags, 3x5 flags with 10’ poles. Bunting around
gazebos. 8 large bunting at lake and 6 large bunting at town hall
Work with Veterans Affair Committee regarding flags
c. Christmas cookies/hot chocolate – They were handed out by Manna without
our input.
d. Pots – order pots from Merrit and send invoice to Marie
e. Flower Garden Project – Ben Herdon with Liberty Christian would like to
partner with the Town and the Appearance Commission to start a Flower
Garden at the Golfview Greenway. We also proposed having them help with

the planting and a Gateway sign. They look great and would like to continue
to have more at the Golfview greenway.
f. Electrical Panels – Golfview is done and the lake is next.
4. NEW BUSINESS
a. Christmas Decorations – backdrop, look at new lights for the tree. Backdrop
gets families involved
b. Lake sign – looking to update the sign to be more attractive
Motion made by Marie Callender to redesign and update lake sign for next
season,2nd Evelyn Barnes. No objections carried unanimously.
5. ADJOURNMENT.
Motion made by Tina Yossett and carried unanimously, to adjourn the meeting.
Tina Yossett adjourned the meeting at 7:44 p.m.
