Our city's budget should reflect the reality of the challenges we face. Please include the proposed $100,000 fund for neighbors impacted by federal enforcement. It's a rounding error at 0.25% of our spending, but it addresses the most significant threat to our community stability today. I look forward to seeing your vote on this. Thank you for your service and for considering this critical matter for our community. Sincerely, A.K. Pertilla Ward 2 https://outlook.cloud.microsoft/mail/inbox/id/AAQkADljMjA3ZTc5LTBhZTEtNDQ0OS1hNmU1LWZlY2EwYWE2NjA3MwAQAE28jJ%2FhgP1PhK9QWqt… 1/1 [PAGE 6] 4/22/26, 4:58 PM Outlook Support for $100K for ICE impacted Families From Camy Clough Date Wed 4/22/2026 4:57 PM To My name is Camy Clough. I live in Ward One. I moved to Hyattsville in 1976 and raised my family here. I write in support of the motion to provide $100K in grants in coordination with appropriate non-profit organizations for ICE impacted families in Hyattsville. The recent article on page 2 of Hyattsville Life & Times explains the need and justification for providing resources to help ICE impacted families. I need not repeat these points. I write more from the perspective of who we are as Hyattsville neighbors. Hyattsville is a community of inclusive, caring and empathetic people who help each other out when a need arises. We are neighbors helping neighbors. It can be as simple as shoveling snow for seniors, coaching youth sport teams, participation in PTA and local non-profits. On a larger level, Hyattsville neighbors come together to create solutions to systemic problems. Examples include Hyattsville Aging in Place, Welcome Home Neighbors, Hyattsville-Swap, Rt 1 Mutual Aid, and Hyattsville Community Arts Alliance. Our city services include food assistance and diaper give-aways, services for seniors and youth, and vaccine locations during the pandemic. Many Hyattsville residents are distressed by the ICE kidnappings in our area. Families are being torn apart. Breadwinners are removed, leaving families in dire economic situations. Children fear going to school. The trauma to these families is deep and will be long lasting. The community of Hyattsville must protect decent and hardworking members of our community who are most vulnerable. I and many of my neighbors strongly support the initial allocation of $100K to be administered by trusted non-profits closest to the ICE impacted families. Dear Coucilmembers, I urge you to support the creation of a $100,000 emergency relief fund for families impacted by ICE in the budget. I've been volunteering to support food donations for families since November. Every week the need keeps growing and more families don't know where their next meal is going to come from or how they will be able to pay the bills to keep the lights on. This is an emergency situation and the City government must find a way to support residents who are impacted by cruel and unjust federal policies terrorizing our neighborhoods.
