4. ADJOURNMENT
The Parks and Greenspace Board reserves the right to convene in executive session from time to
time as deemed necessary during this meeting to discuss any of the matters listed in the agenda.

1. CALL THE ROLL AND ANNOUNCE A QUORUM IS PRESENT
With a quorum of the Parks Board Members present, the Regular Meeting of the Spring Valley
Village City Parks and Greenspace Board was called to order by Chairman Ellijio Serrano at
6:04 p.m.

2. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES
2.1 Minutes for the Regular Called Parks and Greenspace Board Meeting on August 19,
2025.
Member Beasley made a motion to approve the minutes for the Regular Called Parks and
Greenspace Board Meeting on August 19, 2025, and Member Pokorski seconded the motion.
Motion carried 6-0.
3. NEW BUSINESS
3.1 DISCUSSION CONCERNING: Planning of Future City Events and Activities
Chairman Serrano opened the floor for discussion and feedback regarding both recent and
upcoming City Park events, including the popular Music and Movies in the Park series. Board
members shared their thoughts and suggestions on how to continue improving these community
gatherings. After an in-depth discussion, several recommendations were made to enhance event
visibility and attendance. The board emphasized the importance of increasing marketing efforts,
suggesting the placement of additional event signs throughout the City, as well as expanding
outreach through email notifications, social media platforms, and printed flyers or
announcements distributed to local businesses, nearby schools, and area churches.
The conversation also focused on preparations for the upcoming Holiday Tree Lighting event,
particularly the event itinerary, planned activities, and strategies for better communicating
sponsorship opportunities to residents and local organizations. The Parks and Greenspace Board
collectively recommended several ideas to make the celebration more festive and engaging.
These included hiring a DJ to provide music throughout the event, inviting additional food

vendors to participate, setting up an ornament or cookie decorating station, featuring the Grinch
for photo opportunities, incorporating extra lighting throughout the park, and continuing the
annual City coloring contest. Overall, the discussion reflected the board’s commitment to
enhancing community engagement and ensuring that each event offers a memorable experience
for attendees of all ages.
4. ADJOURNMENT
Member Beasley motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:57 p.m., and Member Vincent seconded
the motion. Motion carried 6-0
