RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING - KRC
April 15, 2025 – 6:00 p.m.

Absent: Bob Wade, Anna Mierkowicz
I. Approval of Minutes, March 2025
A. Motion by John, seconded by Marianne. Passed
B. Motion to excuse Bob Wade and Anna by Marianne, seconded by Keith.
Passed.
II. Staff Updates
A. Director Overview – Spring programs running, staff is busy, construction
changes coming to Westfield
B. Staff Updates
i. Sam – Programming, Seniors
1. Handed out flyers for basketball, soccer, tennis and
pickleball. Updated on potential art classes at the cultural
center barn this summer. Still working with contractors.
ii. Heather – Programming, swim club
1. Westfield lounge coming along, pool/ping pong table
waiting to be built, summer hiring, TSC’s numbers are up.
Fitter and Faster camp a success, Senior Alliance coming in
June
iii. Matt – Rink and Marina Update
1. Marina open, busy. Sheriff construction closing up. Ice
show approach end of April, partial tournaments coming,
prospect camp, JV showcase. Hiring staff, need pool deck
supervisors (new role)
iv. Ken – Construction Updates
1. Zamboni’s and equipment are getting yearly services.
Touch ups and painting as we go along. Locker room for
girls united team. Upgrades to JV locker room.
III. Commissioner’s Assignments and Reports
A. Scott – Ennis field damage, requesting help with gates by the dugouts,
clarified communication to vandals, TBA dirt for leveling helping with
purchase, sponsorship form Safe storage, short handed on coaches, teifer
parking concerns
B. Mark – Prospect show case next year, Trenton in TC showcase of 24
teams. 2 games.
C. Marianne – Seeds started in greenhouse. NHS volunteers working, plant
sale in conjunction with the garage sale weekend. Garden walk coming
July 19.

IV. Old Business
A. Rotary Park - Courts ripped, pavement extended, pathway and lighting
going in, board walk removal in May. Elm Street lot done in April with
irrigation.
B. Slocum Park – Fencing back 9 ft, pickleball courts, construction ongoing,
hoping to get playground equipment soon, walkway paving hoping for
end of July.
C. Pool Update – DNR trying to get moving.
D. Westfield Update – No timeline, tearing out banquet floor, open to
suggestions, sound systems, AV.
