LAKE IMPROVEMENT BOARD MEETING
May 23, 2022

A meeting of the Perch Lake, Lake Improvement Board was held at the Montcalm
County Drain Commission, 211 W. Main Street, Stanton, Michigan on the 23rd day of
May 23 at 5:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Anne at 5:05 p.m.
PRESENT: Patrick Bolling, Abutting Property Owner’s Representative
Steve Nichols, Montcalm Township Representative
Jack Hendricks, Chairperson, via phone
ABSENT: Todd Sattler, Secretary, Drain Commissioner
Adam Petersen, Board of Commissioner’s Representative
ALSO
PRESENT: Rick Buteyn, Progressive A&E
Anne Gaylord, Drain Commission
A motion was made by Steve and seconded by Pat to approve the agenda. Motion
carried.
A motion was made by Steve and seconded by Pat to approve the minutes from
November 8, 2021, as amended. Motion carried.
Public Comments
No public present at this time.
Financial Update
Anne provided a financial update to the board. Steve stated that the board is sitting on
about a full year’s budget for contingency. Steve asked about rising chemical prices and
how that should be figured in. Rick advised that prices are rising, but we are currently
under contract. Applicators can request to change prices, but it is up to the board to
accept the request. Steve asked how much longer we have on this current program and
Anne and Rick advised that there is one more year, with the public hearing to be held in
summer of 2023.
A motion was made by Pat and seconded by Steve to accept the financial report as
presented. Motion carried
Weed Program Update
Rick provided a weed control update to the board. He stated that he had surveyed the lake
right before heading to the meeting. He told the board that there was nearly no milfoil
and only small amounts of curly leaf pond weed in the small channel and in the
horseshoe. Tick will be surveying the lake again in June and is hoping to schedule the

harvesting for June 13th. His plan is then to treat only what the harvesting doesn’t reach
and is planning to treat around June 20th. Rick asked the board to make sure they are
cleaning their boats well if they have been in a surrounding lake to avoid the spread of
starry stonewort.
There being no further business to come before the Lake Board, a motion was made by
Steve and seconded by Pat to adjourn the meeting at 5:32 p.m. Motion carried.
