Mike Quade, Floyd County Fair Board President, seeks continued support to maintain and improve its grounds for future events and youth programs. Recent upgrades include sidewalks, sound systems, bleachers, and drainage, while upcoming priorities include a new horse barn, expanded sound systems, seating, food court outlets, poultry cages, and bathroom upgrades. The Fair is requesting its annual $10,000 contribution plus $12,000 for the collection site exchange. Mckenna Lloyd, Museum Director of the Floyd County Historical Society and Museum requests $7,200 to fund a 12-week summer internship in 2027, paying $15 per hour for 40 hours per week. The museum, a cornerstone of Floyd County’s history and tourism since 1954, serves over 4,000 visitors annually and hosts major events like Heritage Fest. An intern will assist with digitizing archives, managing collections, and supporting daily operations during the busiest season, ensuring quality service and preservation efforts. Offering competitive wages will attract a qualified history student or graduate, providing valuable experience while strengthening the museum’s ability to serve the community. Adam Sears, Conservation Director, provided a Conservation department update. Rottinghaus/Cambell moved to approve the Title VI Non-Discrimination Agreement IDOT and Floyd County and Standard DOT Title VI Assurances. Motion carried 3-0. The Board noted Denny Begemann will retire February 27, 2026. The board noted the FY25 County Social Services Audit Report. Future agenda items: Medical Examiner Appointment, Master Matrix Hearing, Potential Battery Energy Storage Moratorium. The Board recessed from 10:15am to 1:00 pm The Board conducted FY27 budget reviews for Auditor, Communications, and Medical Examiner. Campbell/Rottinghaus moved to adjourn. Motion carried 3-0.
