Library Governing Board Minutes of the Meeting for Wednesday, January 7th 2026
1. Call to Order at 1:10 pm by Jill Cooper
2. Roll Call/present: Jill Cooper (Trenton), Jeff Daigneau (Woodhaven), David Chapman
(Brownstown), Theresa McLachlan (Grosse Ile), Donna Jensen (Library Director)
3. Approval of the Agenda January 7th 2026. (JD/TM)
4. Approval of the Minutes from November 5th 2025 (DC/JD)
5. Public Comment: None in attendance.
6. Director’s Report
7. New Business
a) Carpet project and front of building refurbish: no timeline, possible weeks long
closure. What does that look like for full time and part time employees? Not
likely to happen at the same time. Suggested staff enrichment/training/meeting
(cpr, first aid, customer service).
b) What are the Board’s expectations in 2026 for collection, outreach, building, and
staff? Discussed and advised.
c) July 2026-June2027 Budget Timeline: Due February, Mayor/City
Admin/Controller/Dept. Head discussions in March, Presentation of Mayor’s
Proposed Budget presented in April, Council discussions and vote/approval in
May.
8. Old Business
a) Cameras installed and working well. Connected to Police Department. Easier to
use and access recordings.
b) Website accessibility government mandate due April 2026. Discussion and
advice.
9. Information Items
a) $1000 donation without stipulations from Grosse Ile resident.
10.Next Meeting: March 4th 2026 @ 1PM
