I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Hey, Madam Clerk, please call the roll. Trustee Estrada-Volpe? Here. Trustee Zavaznovic? Here. Trustee Conte? Here. Trustee Sargent? Here. Trustee Kaminsky? Here. Trustee Lolino? Here. President Saviano? Here. Okay. We've got a special guest here tonight to do the duty of swearing us in, and he's our Secretary of State of Illinois, Lexi Julius. I don't know if you were calling me to say something or if you were... Well, first of all, it's an honor to be in Elmwood Park. I want to thank you all for being here to support these great leaders. I will just tell you that... Municipal government, city government, to me, is what it means to be a public servant. These individuals care about this community and your families more than you could ever imagine. They are the very best of America, the very best of Illinois, and I want to thank you all for serving and for helping out and devoting your time and your life to this endeavor. We all know that you guys don't get paid a lot of money. I know that because my wife tells me every night that I don't get paid a lot of money for this. But I want to thank you for all that you do, and I want to give a special shout-out to Mayor Saviano, who is more than just a great mayor. To me, he is like family. And I will tell you, when I was a young kid in Springfield, I was a state treasurer. I was 30 years old, and no one would talk to me, and I didn't even know where the bathrooms were. Skip Saviano put his arm around me and treated me like a little brother. And he was always there for me, and he gave me advice. It wasn't until like a year and a half in that I realized he was in the other party. I don't even know. So I think that says a lot about both of us. I just care about good government and helping people, and he never cared. And also, no one judged me because, A, times were different back then where everyone got along. And B, it was Skip Saviano. And every single Republican and every single Democrat loved him because he didn't get into partisan politics. He was all about making a difference. He was all about helping other people. And that, to me, is what it means to be a public servant. I could not speak more highly of our friendship. I don't do this ever. But when he asked me, I jumped because the truth of the matter is, if we had more public servants like Skip Saviano, our country would be a better place. And if we had more human beings like Skip Saviano, our world would be a better place. So I am beyond honored to be here. I love him and his family, and I will always be in Unwood Park anytime you ever call me. Thank you for the honor of letting me speak. Thank you. Send me these. Yeah. Yeah. Is that okay, or how do you want me to do it? Is there an order that you guys care about? You want to go first? Raise your right hand and repeat after me. I, Angelo Skip Saviano, do solemnly swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. Do solemnly swear. Sorry. the Constitution of the State of Illinois, and the Code of the Village of Elmwood Park, and to perform in an ethical and honest manner, in my capacity as Village President, to the best of my ability, so help me God. The cost is $37,250. Also, the City of Chicago will raise water rates to its customers, which includes the Village of Elmwood Park, by 4%, effective June 1st. And if I could, I would just like to recognize Pete Gunther. He's our public works director. All this work with the tree planting, He's terribly passionate about it. Mary Trilley came to my office. We sat together. Frankly, this was her idea. She said, hey, why don't we try to get some posters in our public space to promote the tree program? And, you know, what better way to do that by including the kids? And Pete took it upon himself to go to the schools and had this wonderful art project. And, I mean, we had probably 20-plus submissions. what we thought were the best of the best. But great job on Pete's part and the school for cooperating. And, of course, Mary, and full disclosure, I go way back with the Torelli family, and my wife does. But this was really a great effort, and thank you very much. Thank you. I just want to say thank you for all the residents coming out and voting and supporting us. I think we were successful because of not only the people up here, but as Angelo said, our administration, both here in this building, public works, police department, fire department, code department. It's an amazing compilation of people who really love this town and work hard for this town. And not all of them are residents, most of them are, but the point is, They care about our residents in those different departments, and you see the difference on the street. You see the safety we realize in this village with our police and our fire department, the beautification that we do through the efforts of our public works department.
