[PAGE 1] West Fargo Public Library Board of Directors Meeting Date: January 14th, 2021 Time: 5:30 P.M. Place: Zoom Meeting & streamed live on the City of West Fargo YouTube channel Roll Call: Alanna Rerick, Jodie Haring, Steve Anglin, Mandy George, Larry Schwartz. Also attending: John Shockley, West Fargo City Attorney, Carissa Hansen, Library Director, Kirsten Henagin, Adult Services Manager, Sarah Davis, Children’s Services Librarian, and Alisha Reis, Library Office Coordinator. 1. Call to Order Rerick called the meeting to order. 2. Approve Order of Agenda Schwartz moved and Anglin seconded to approve the order of the agenda as presented with the modification of the consent agenda item 3.II Approval of Financial Reports moved to item 4.I on the regular agenda. No opposition. Motion carried. 3. Consent Agenda Approve The Following: George moved and Schwartz seconded to approve the consent agenda. No opposition. Motion carried. a. Approval of Minutes – December 10th, 2020 b. Approve Actions from Mobile Library Task Force January Meeting Regular Agenda: 1. Approval of Financial Reports • Hansen summarized budget adjustments previously approved by the Library Board in 2020 and how they are reflected in the December 2020 financials to date. Schwartz moved and Haring seconded to approve the December library financials. No opposition. Motion carried. 2. Review And Provide Input on 2021 Library Projects And Initiatives • Hansen presented a draft of the Library’s anticipated projects and initiatives of 2021. Library board discussed and provided feedback. No action required. 3. Director’s Report Hansen presented the following items for the Director’s Report: • Library reopens to walk in traffic on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021. • WFPL welcomes a new team member, Sarah Davis. Davis is the new Children’s Services Librarian. [PAGE 2] • Folkways met with the programming team to do an audit of the library’s current and past events. Folkways will take the feedback from the programming team to help work on recommendations for improving the experience at the event as well as hosting and the marketing experience. Folkways is still in the process of getting feedback and conducting interviews with non-users. • The Library and Friends of the Library are participating in Giving Hearts day, February 11th, 2021 to raise funds for the Little Red Reading Bus service. A gift to the campaign for the LRRB will support two things: enhanced library experience on the bus’s route, including outdoor reading seating, reading nooks, etc., and a Kindergarten readiness program called Ready to Read that would begin in 2021. Match donors are still needed. Local organizations, businesses and individuals that would like to give match donations may reach out to Hansen. • The library staff is hard at work in preparing for the first year of service operating the Little Red Reading Bus, including cataloging the Little Red Reading Bus’s book collection, fundraising, and working with the Mobile Library Task Force, etc. • Kirsten Henagin, Adult Services Manager, gave a programming update. 4.
