MINUTES
The members of the Coalition Board met at 4 pm at City Hall, Shelbyville, Indiana, on Monday July
28, 2025. There were 4 members present in person and 1 city advisor.
Those present were:
Liz Renton, Don Collins, Anise “Buffy” Powers, and President Kay Koenig, and City Advisor Tyler
Comstock as the City Engineer.
Those not attending were; Shellie Ellison, Denise Holland, Kristen Jessie, and Shane Roell.
The Minutes of the June 23, 2025 meeting reviewed and approved. They were sent to all members
by email.
Staff Updates
Tyler Comstock – Reported on the planned modifications to the St. Joe Church. He also gave a
detailed report on the Round-about located at Mille Street and McKay Road, near the High School. It
was almost completed and will be ready for use when school opens.
Committee Updates
Presidents Report:
July 9 – Attended the Parks Board Meeting. There was not mention during the meeting of the situation about
Morrison Park shelter progress.
July 10 – Attended the “Coffee with the Mayor” meeting.
July 17 – Visited the Grover Museum Birthday Party.
July 17 – Attended the SCAAC meeting with the Aging County Coalition
Treasurers Report:
Liz Renton reported the current bank balance was $7,334.71.
OLD BUSINESS
1. President Kay and Tyler reported on the two new handicapped parking spaces at the Blue River Park.
2. President Kay introduced the new “Gold Star Award. The first award was presented to CVS Pharmacy
and the coalition discussed possible changes to the presentation but the feeling was that it went well
and everyone was pleased with the way it was presented. CVS has a special needs person greeting
customers as they come into the pharmacy and that is being received very well.

NEW BUSINESS
1. President Kay suggested that the next Gold Star Award be presented to Shelby County Player for their
consideration of their attention to ensuring that people with special needs were able to enjoy
performances along with everyone else. The coalition discussed changing the timing of the award to
quarterly rather than monthly and everyone seemed to agree that it would be better than a monthly
award.
2. Sidewalks – The group discussed the possibility of finding a way to help citizens fix or repair sidewalk
problems. More discussion on how the group might find a way to provide some financial assistance by
raising money in the future.
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 25, 2025 at 4 pm at City Hall.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:15 pm.
