The Mayor and Council met in a regular meeting on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at the city hall with the following members present:  Webb Nall, Jerome Webster, Eunice Johnson, Shawn Lassiter, and Chris Harrison.

A quorum being present Mayor Staff called the meeting to order. Councilmember Johnson led in prayer followed by the pledge of allegiance.

Minutes of the September 12, 2022, regular meeting – A motion was made by Eunice Johnson and seconded by Webb Nall to approve the minutes of the September 12, 2022, regular meeting as written. Vote: all ayes. The motion was approved.

Resolution 2022-19 – This resolution declares a grass and weed nuisance on specific properties within the city limits and gives the Code Enforcement Officer permission to proceed with the abatement and removal of the nuisance. A motion was made by Webb Nall and seconded by Jerome Webster to approve Resolution 2022-19. Vote: all ayes. The motion was approved.

Demolition 75 Jones Street – The Code Enforcement Officer is requesting that a nuisance be declared that the structure is unsafe to the extent that it is a public nuisance and order the structure to be demolished. A motion was made by Chris Harrison and seconded by Jerome Webster to move forward with the demolition at 75 Jones Street. Vote: all ayes. The motion was approved.

Demolition at 53 Harris Street – The Code Enforcement Officer is requesting that a nuisance be declared that the structure is unsafe to the extent that it is a public nuisance and order the structure to be demolished. A motion was made by Eunice Johnson and seconded by Shawn Lassiter to move forward with the demolition at 53 Harris Street. Vote: all ayes. The motion was approved.

2022-2023 Operating Budget – This year's budget is $13.6 million. It includes a 7% increase for all city employees. A motion was made by Webb Nall and seconded by Chris Harrison to approve the 2022-2023 Budget. Vote: all ayes. The motion was approved.

Councilmember Johnson introduced Amber Osbourne, the special education teacher at Rachel Patterson. She is from Louisville, KY.

A motion was made by Chris Harrison and seconded by Shawn Lassiter to adjourn. Vote: all ayes. The meeting was adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
