[PAGE 1] RAINBOW AND MIDDLE LAKES LAKE IMPROVEMENT BOARD MEETING May 11, 2022 _______________________________________________________ A meeting of the Rainbow and Middle Lakes, Lake Improvement Board was held at the Montcalm County Drain Commission, 211 W. Main Street, Stanton, Michigan on the 11th day of May 2022 at 3:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Doug at 3:05 p.m. PRESENT: Doug Smith, Chairperson Todd Sattler, Secretary, Montcalm County Drain Commissioner Don Cichon, Pine Township Representative Kathy Bresnahan, Board of Commissioner’s Representative ABSENT: Bill Cretens, Abutting Property Owner’s Representative ALSO PRESENT: Mark Harrison, Clear Water Lake Management Gabriel Jones, Resident Anne Gaylord, Montcalm County Drain Commission A motion was made by Todd and seconded by Don to approve the agenda. Motion carried. A motion was made by Todd and seconded by Kathy to approve the minutes from September 15, 2021, as presented. Motion carried. Public Comment No public comment at this time. Weed Control Program Mark advised the board of the treatment dates for each lake. Middle – 5/13, 6/16, and 7/26. Rainbow – 5/23, 6/20, and 7/26. Mark advised that there was not a ton of growth from the winter. Algae is starting to pop with the sudden heat and sun from the last few days. Chara is still a big problem on Middle Lake. Mark advised that lily pad treatments would be best if they are done in the fall and residents wanting their lily pads treated should put a milk jug in the yard to mark the lot for treatment. The board discussed the possible use of percellacore. He provided costs of $525 per acre for a percellacore/diquat mixture and $950 per acre for the straight percellacore. He believes that straight percellacore would have the longest lasting effects. A motion was made by Don and seconded by Kathy to use a treatment of straight percellacore at a cost of $950 per acre. Motion carried Financial Update [PAGE 2] Todd provided a financial update to the board. He advised that settlement was received yesterday and the assessment for Rainbow and Middle Lakes will be added to the ledger once the money has been receded into our ledger system. Separation of Rainbow and Middle Lakes Todd provided the legal opinion from Fahey Schultz to the board for review. The board advised that they had discussed the separation at the lake association board and decided that it was not the best course of action. Future Meeting Schedule The board discussed and decided that the next lake improvement board meeting should be held on September 21, 2022, at 3:00 PM in the Drain Office.
