Corn Palace Entertainment Board Meeting 2/17/26 Minutes
City Council Chambers, City Hall, 612 N. Main St.
1. Call to Order
Meeting called to order by: John Foster at 4:01 p.m.
2. Corn Palace Entertainment Board Members Present: Sara Deakins, Johanna Allen, John
Foster, Jason Bates, Giovanni Lanier, Tim Goldammer, Jory Hansen
Absent: Steve Morgan, Nancy Conzemius,
Others Present: Dave Sietsema, Mayor Hanson
3. Approval of Agenda: Motion by Deakins second by Goldammer. Motion approved.
4. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Allen and Second by Lanier. Motion Approved.
5. Citizen’s Input: No Citizen’s Input was heard after offering time.
6. Discount Information for Concessions – Discussion by board to allow for discounts at
concessions for City and Corn Palace Staff to receive a 40% discount at the concessions
in the Corn Palace during work hours. Goldammer clarified the discount was for all items
and that the discount would cover the cost of the goods. Sietsema said it will cover costs
and did cover all items. Allen inquired about if it was for all city employees. Sietsema
confirmed it was for city employees only when they are clocked in for work and was not
usable during afterhours times. Motion by Goldammer to approve rates seconded by
Bates. Motion Carried.
7. Mural Theme for 2027 Announced – The theme for the 2027 Murals will Be Safari.
8. Directors Report: Sietsema talked about the events since the last meeting including
Dakota Oyate Challenge Basketball Tournament. Three-days, included Handgames,
Dakota Language Challenge and Archery. The event saw growth and the board is talking
about expanding four more teams. TBD by their board. DOC reserved Dates for next
year. 2-Day DWU/Culvers Classic recently completed and was a great event with growth
as well. Makeup Games for Hanson Classics with Ethan/Parkston and Ethan/Leola
Fredrick. Games were cancelled due to the passing of a Faculty Member at Ethan. 10
DWU basketball Games, 2Meals. Upcoming events include TDA double-header, DWU
double-header, MHS Girls, DWU Quarterfinals and State Girls Hockey. General
discussion on the City Council recently Discussion on charging a $1 for entry in to the
Palace. The Council reached a conclusion, without a vote, to keep it as it is, Free.
Updated the Board on Festival Music. Moved to second choice on Friday night due to
artist not touring in 2026. Saturday Night offer is out artist is asking for video wall, we
have let artist know we don’t have the capacity to do the video wall but would have
other options.

10. Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned by Foster following directors report since there
was no Executive Session.
