Minutes of the Floyd County Conservation Board March 3rd, 2026

Conservation Board The meeting was called to order by President, Roy Scheickerath at 5:00 p.m. Present were
Director
Board Members: Mary Ramon, Max Gisleson, Roy Schwickerath, Pete Kloberdanz and
Jesse Frerichs. Also present were Park Ranger, Spencer DeJoode, Naturalist, Heidi Reams,
Adam Sears
Natural Resource Manager, Tyron Steere and Office Manager, Jessica O’Connor. Under
the consent agenda, Jesse moved to accept the February meeting minutes, Pete seconded,
motion carried 5-0. Jesse moved to accept the February claims, Pete seconded, motion
President carried 5-0. Pete moved to accept the March Meeting Agenda as presented, a second was
made by Jesse. The motion carried 5-0.

Charles City Foundation Liaison Report:
The Foundation held the annual Maple Syrup Fest with attendance significantly down

compared to previous years. Three gallons of syrup was available for the event; however,
very little syrup was available for sale. Moving forward, the Foundation would like to see
Mary Ramon,
more syrup available for purchase at the event.

New Business:
A closed session was offered to candidates for the Director position to which all declined.
Peter Kloberdanz,
Pete provided an explanation of the selection process for the new Director. A committee

met to interview candidates for the position with the committee including Morrigan
Montage, Peter Kloberdanz, Gloria Carr and Adam Sears. Candidates were asked 14
interview questions and upon completion of interviews the committee recommended

Tyron Steere as the new Director. Jesse made a motion to accept the recommended
candidate and Max seconded the motion. Motion passed 5-0.

The board discussed the terms in which would be associated with the Directors position.

Upon acceptance, the Director would have a yearly salary of $72,827 and would be on a
history 90-day probationary period. Board would like a decision from Tyron by Friday, March 6th.
Pete moved to proceed with the salary presented, probationary period and time frame for
ensuring acceptance. Mary seconded the motion, motion carried 5-0.

Next meeting will be held on April 7th, 2026, 5:00 PM at the Fossil and Prairie Center.
Jesse moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:17 PM, Mary seconded the motion. Motion
