[PAGE 1] -t- TRENTON PARKS & RECREATION RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING - KRC February 25, 2025 – 6:30 p.m. Minutes Present: Keith Kneiding, Scott Coleman, Mark Gilstorf, Bob Wade on phone, Bob Watkowski, John MacDonald on phone, Linda Kell, Marianne Rob Ken Naysmith, Matt Stanley. I. Called To Order at 6:35 PM – by Bob Watkowski. II. Approval of Minutes, October and November 2024 Motion by John MacDonald Motion, Seconded by Mark Gilstorf. Carried. III. Motion to excuse Anna M. by Linda, Seconded by Scott. Carried. IV. Staff Updates A. Director Overview – B. Staff Updates i. Sam – Currently out – Currently working with the Senior Advisory Panel at the Westfield Center to reform programming and add to the schedule that is losing participants by the day. ii. Heather – At Swim Team Meet- Daddy Daughter Dance was very successful and Swim club as well as fitness classes are going strong. iii. Matt – Rinks – 4 tournaments coming up preparing and Spring and summer ice sales. Ice show will have over 65 skaters. Marina – will open March 31. Currently getting staff prepared and taking reservations. iv. Ken – Still working on Compressor project and maintaining the ice in the buildings. V. Commissioners Assignments and Reports A. Keith – HS hockey prepping for playoffs. 12U Trenton Team and 2010 Trenton Team and the Prep Unified team won districts. Draft skates for Spring will begin in March. B. Scott – Website links are up and working well. Ennis Park will see some improvements to the infield this year. Teifer Parking lot is taking a beating and needs to be addressed. VI. Old Business A. Rotary Park Update- waiting on frost to lift and construction will begin. B. Pool Update – waiting on a response from EGLE so that DNR can approve us to seek bids. [PAGE 2] C. Rink – The practice arena has taken on a new name with a minor advertising agreement with Celly’s. The name is now Celly’s arena. VII. New Business A. Slocum Park – Will receive updates including a basketball court, pickleball courts, a new playground and a walking path. B. We are looking into solar for the rink. We currently anticipate that over 33% of electricity could be saved. VIII. Ice Show will take Place – April 24- 26 IX. Adjourn motion by Linda, seconded by Keith. Carried at 7:12 PM.
