[PAGE 1] VILLAGE OF PORT CHESTER PARK COMMISSION PORT CHESTER SENIOR CENTER Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 7:00 PM MINUTES ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Virginia Corbia, Scott Ladore, Camela Morissey, Carlos Gomez, and Chair Connie Thalheimer ABSENT: Commissioners Gary Sullivan and Nicole Hollwedel The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Thalheimer at 7:06 p.m. AGENDA ITEMS: 1. Adoption of Minutes: November 8, 2023 On a Motion by Commissioner LaDore, Seconded by Commissioner Corbia, the minutes of November 8, 2023 were adopted. 2. Request to use Lyon Park in July for a family reunion Hidalia Almonte was present and explained the event to the Commissioners. Ms. Almonte explained that this is a family retreat with expected 350 people. On a Motion by Commissioner LaDore, Seconded by Commissioner Corbia, the Commission approves the event. 3. Update on the possibility of turning Edgewood Park into an all-purpose park, including the addition of a baseball field This item has been adjourned to the next meeting. 4. Possibility of allowing leashed dogs in the parks The Commission took a vote regarding the topic ROLL CALL: AYES: Commissioner LaDore ABSTAIN: Commissioners Morrisey and Gomez NOES: Commissioners Corbia and Thalheimer ABSENT: Commissioners Hollwedel and Sullivan This motion fails. Review of each Commission members assigned park Commissioner Thalheimer has Rec Park Commissioners LaDore and Gomez have Lyon Park Commissioners Hollwedel and Sullivan have Columbus Park Commissioner Morrisey has Abendroth Park Commissioner Corbia has Edgewood Park 6. Collaborate with PCHS to renovate the tennis courts and explore the possibility of opening them up to residents. Heather provided some history and information regarding the tennis courts at the high school. After brief discussion, the Commission decided to take a vote to write a letter to the Board of Trustees asking them to liaison between the High School and the Village. Commissioner Morrisey volunteered to write a draft letter. On a Motion by Commissioner LaDore, Seconded by Commissioner Morrisey, the Commission is in favor of sending a letter to the Board of Trustees. 7. New or Old Business - Heather mentioned that Blind Brook School Baseball field is being repaired and they have asked to utilize rec park for practice and games. The school district will be responsible for preparing and cleaning up after games, mowing, keeping up with the clay, etc. On a Motion by Commissioner LaDore, Seconded by Commissioner Morrisey, the Commission is in favor of lending the Rec Park Field to Blind Brook School temporarily. - The Historical Society is requesting the use of Lyon Park on June 19, 2024 for a Juneteenth Celebration. On a Motion by Commissioner LaDore, Seconded by Commissioner Gomez, this request is approved. On a Motion by Commissioner Morrisey, the meeting was adjourned at 7:42pm.
